About FIIRO

The Federal Institute of Industrial

Researchis a parastatal under the office of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology. FIIRO was the possibility of a monetary mission sent to Nigeria in 1953 by the World Bank. The mission's perception was that modern research exercises in Nigeria were diffused and ungraceful with no unequivocal course. Thus, a choice was come to set the Institute in 1956.

VISION STATEMENT

To be the foremost centre for Science and Technology-based research and development for the industrialization and socio-economic advancement of the nation. 

MISSION STATEMENT

To conduct and promote market-driven research and development (R&D) for the industrialization and socio-economic development of the country.

CURRENT AREA OF FOCUS

Research and Development of Food and Agro – Allied Processing Technologies.

Research and Development into Pulp and Paper Processing.

Research and Development into Packaging and Product Design

Design and Fabrication of Equipment Prototype.

Major facilities required for thoroughly carried out Research and Development activities are available in various  Department.
The Department periodically trains undergraduate students on Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and graduates on National Youths Service Corps on different processing technologies and required practical skills necessary to function effectively in the  industries.

Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO) is open for Research work Monday through Friday except on national holidays.

Our working hours are from 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Eligibility: 

To be eligible for this Program candidates must be full time students of a University or Polytechnic and must have authorization to participate in the program
